How you can help your child
Because of the importance of accuracy of punctuation and grammar, we have a specific focus on:
1. Proof-reading sentences to check for sense and correct punctuation - including the use of apostrophes to indicate possession.
2. Correct use of homophones (e.g. they’re, their and there).
Home Reading Practice
It is important for your child to become an experienced reader of a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
While popular books, such as ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’, ‘Dork Diaries’ and ‘Flower Fairy’ series are relaxing and easy to read, we encourage our pupils to choose more demanding books for their daily home-reading tasks.
