Year 2
5.9. 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome Back to School!
We are thrilled to begin a new academic year with your children in their new classroom. It's an exciting time, and we truly appreciate your ongoing support as we work together to make this a successful and enriching year of learning. The children are settling in well and are already adapting to new routines and approaches. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask as we are always happy to help.
Year Two covers a wide range of subject material, and each week we’ll keep you informed about the key topics we are focusing on in the core subjects. We will also share any home learning activities that will help deepen and reinforce their understanding.
Topic: Beginnings The children have considered the many feelings that accompany each new beginning, from nervousness through to excitement. We will be looking at Psalm 139, which tells of God being there at each new beginning. They will be considering what they believe God wishes for them.
Home Learning: Consider the new beginnings this week of coming back to school. Talk with your child about their feelings of apprehension, nervousness, excitement and talk about how they feel now. Have their feelings changed now? Why? |
We will be learning about Place Value. reconsolidating numbers to 20 and making and counting in 10s.
Home Learning: We are sending a 100 square home for you to keep and pin up to practise counting forwards and backwards to 20 or to 50 and building to 100.

We will be introducing the book ‘What we’ll build’ by Oliver Jeffers. We will learning about the characters, setting descriptions and making comparisons between them. In History we will be introducing significant people, such as Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. In Art we will be looking at the Art work of Kimmy Cantrell who made abstract face masks using patterns, texture and colour blending. |
