St Mary's Infant School Newsletters

9th May  2025

Dear Parents / Carers,

Although it has been a relatively quiet week in school we have had a lot to talk and think about outside school, with the 80th Anniversary of VE day and the Conclave beginning. Yesterday the Cardinals reached the decision and we saw the white smoke appear from the Sistine Chapel. They elected Pope Leo XIV.

We pray for our new Pope Leo XIV, may he be supported in all the decisions he makes.

St Andrew Class Assembly

Next week on Wednesday 14th May it is St Andrew Class Assembly. If your child is in St Andrew Class, you are invited to come and be part of the Assembly and support your child. They have been working hard to ensure it is the best it can be. I have been hearing all the singing and the lines that they have learnt.

We look forward to seeing you there.

THANK YOU

A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered yesterday to help with planting all the wonderful plants I bought with the grant from RHS Wisley. I am hoping they will really transform our grounds and increase the biodiversity around the school. So a big Thank You to Alexandra, Annie, Jonah, Kaja, Kai and Kwanza mothers and Francis’ father, they all worked so hard & it is very much appreciated. The next area we will be transforming is the space between Nursery and Reception where we will be planning fruit trees and berry bushes.

If you would like to write prayers Pope Leo, you can write them in our prayer book by the office or bring them in and we can stick them in the book.

Summer hats

With this wonderful weather we are experiencing, please can you ensure your child comes to school in a blue sun hat. I have noticed many pink and other coloured hats coming in, these are not part of the school uniform and should be saved for weekend.

 Golden Table

I had the pleasure of having lunch with another 6 children with wonderful table manners.

 Olanrewaju in St George

 Madon  in St Andrew

 Abraham in St Bernadette

 Ifechukwu in St Therese

 Hailey in  St Martin

 Francis in St Francis

It was clear that these six children have good table manners- they were telling me what they like to eat at home & who does all the cooking in the house.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend
