St Mary's Infant School Newsletters

Headteacher

Newsletter no. 34

27th  June 2025

Dear Parents / Carers,

It has been very hot this week and the children have coped really well. Can I please ask you again to ensure your child is wearing a blue sun hat to school every day in this hot/sunny weather.  If they do not have a sun hat they will be asked to either stay inside or have to remain in the shade. We want to them to be safe in the sun and protect them from the sun’s harmful rays.

I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise to Year 1 parents for the mix up of dates for St Bernadette and St Therese Class Assemblies and to Year 2 parents for the mix up with the Year 2 -3 transition meeting. I can only apologise – I had a couple of  dates written in the diary for everything- sorry. It has taught me a valuable lesson about either writing confirmed by a date or deleting as I go along. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to you all. I will try harder next year!!

 Changes to Wraparound Care

From September we will be extending  our Wraparound Care provision until 6pm. This is to be in line with the Governments proposal of all school offering wraparound care from 8am-6pm.

We will be running a well-planned and structured programme for children from Reception to

Year 6 - consisting of both educational, recreational activities and a light meal.

It will be based in our Family Learning Centre.

The cost per session, 3.30pm-6pm, will be £12

For enquires please go to the Infant School Office

St Bernadette Assembly

We had the pleasure of watching St Bernadette  Class assembly on Wednesday. They taught us the importance of having big dreams and believing in ourselves. We can all achieve great things in this world when we believe in ourselves and we work hard. We must trust in God to guide us in the right direction and that he will always be there for us and is ready to listen.

Year 2 Visit to Brighton Sea Life Centre

On the 2nd July Year 2 will  be taking the coach to Brighton and visiting the Sea life centre. Please ensure you have  filled in the permission slips and that on the day your child is dressed appropriately (wearing the correct school uniform). It is important that they are wearing the correct uniform so that staff and helpers can spot them easily.

I am sure they will have a wonderful time.

Year 2 to Year 3 Transition Meeting

For all Year 2 parents whose child or children are going to be attending St Mary’s Catholic Junior school from September, Mr McDonald, Miss Fizul and myself  are holding an information meeting for you on Tuesday 1st July at 2.45 in the Junior hall. It is important for you to attend & get all the relevant information about timings of the day, classes, teachers uniform etc.
