Year 2

25th April 2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

Religious Education: Spread the Word

Well done Year 2 for completing the Lenten walk to Park Hill. You did a great job!

Please note that we are trying to raise money for CAFOD and if it is possible, would love you to donate however much or little you can afford to sponsor and also to support CAFOD’s wonderful humanitarian work globally.  The link has been previously sent to you on the Newsletter.  We are trying to raise £200 as a school.

‘Spread the word’ is our new topic and we will be looking at the different ways in which we send messages and receive messages.

Home learning:

Please keep Pope Francis in your prayers.

Phonics

                  ai

rain, wait, main, pain, sail, snail, paid, train, trail, frail

High frequency words, some of which are not phonetic and just have to be learnt by sight:

About, all, an, and, are, as, asked

Please write a sentence for each word with a capital letter and full stop.  Add a conjunction such as ‘and’ ‘because’ ‘or’ ‘so’ ‘but.’  We are focussing on writing sentences with detail by adding adjectives.

Sometimes you can see a silvery trail on that ground that a snail makes as it moves.

Focus on neat handwriting too.

English: Look Up by Nathan Bryon

We will be reading this book which is related to space.

Home Learning:

Purple Mash has an activity that we have asked your children to do on the Solar System and the Planets.

There are links to learn more about the Solar System and are worth looking at.
