St Mary's Catholic Primary Schools Trust

School Prayers

Prayer is an important part of our collective worship each day and an opportunity for everyone to develop their own spiritual relationship with God.

We teach children to pray to God in a variety of ways using both formal and informal prayers and reflection. We feel it is important that we teach the children to know some of the Catholic prayers by heart and have an understanding of their meaning. We begin every assembly by praying to our Mother Mary by reciting the ‘Hail Mary’ or by praying to God Our Father by reciting the ‘Our Father’.

Each class comes together to pray at the beginning of the day, before lunch at the end of the day before they go home.

See below the Prayers that the children learn.

The children have the opportunity to write and say their own prayers in our Chapel and have time to themselves to reflect and be close to God.
